Award-umbrella

Award-umbrella

An entire collection of umbrellas was taken home from the Paris Olympics in 1900 by American track and field athlete Alvin Krenzlein. After winning the 60-meter race, long jump and 110-meter hurdle, he reached the podium four times. And he was awarded four times... an umbrella. It turns out that medals at that Olympics have not yet been awarded, and it was necessary to celebrate athletes. So we found a way out of the situation: umbrellas that were very fashionable at that time became the highest reward for Olympic achievements. This story is ingrained in my memory. I think I will always remember this and so decided to share it here.
