Second Breath

Second Breath

Second Breath When I turned 55, I thought that everything in my life had already happened. My job at the university department was over, my children had moved away, my friends were leaving one by one. I was used to being alone. One day, bored on a winter evening, I came across this dating site. There was something strange about the idea, But I registered anyway, out of curiosity. That's how I met a woman from Ukraine. She was 68, living in France, in Provence. Her daughter had taken her to her through the war, and she was Ukrainian herself. We started corresponding, and each letter filled my day with new meaning. She felt lonely there too...in a foreign country. no friends. daughter and her husband work all the time, grandchildren at school. She wrote about her life. I wrote about mine. That's how we became close After a few months, I decided to go on a trip.  When I saw her at the train station with her brightly colored scarf and glowing smile - my heart skipped a beat.  We spent weeks walking through French villages, talking for hours, enjoying the silence and each other's company. Today, I live between two countries.  I spend six months in Provence with her, we get along well with her family, and six months back home in Germany, where I tell my friends about our adventures.  At my age, I never thought I could fall in love again. But it turns out that life is always ready to surprise you if you give it a chance. Love doesn't ask how old you are. It just comes when you least expect it.
